I am 48 years old, I am a career Paramedic/Firefighter, my schedule is 24 hrs. on with 72 hrs. off. I also am a volunteer at another local department. I joined in 1981 and still active today.
At age 21 I purchased a used 350cc Honda, I learned to ride hard, do to the size it was a great machine to do this with, I traded it for a new Kawasaki 650sr I believe it was around 1982. This too was a nice bike, but it was not the Harley that I wanted, so I had to sell the kow. in order to get the Harley. At 1800 miles on my new 1200, an idiot in an old pick up truck pulled out in front of me, I left a 30' patch of rubber and tagged the rear end of a pick up truck. I left a small dent in the truck, sprained my middle finger on my brake hand, with skid marks on the side wall of my front tire and six hundred bucks in busted parts including a triple tree tells me I was about to bust my ass. With the wife riding pillion and screaming in my ear it made the concentration even more difficult ( one more reason to wear a helmet guys ) Ya just can't think with da wife screaming in your ear. I rode the bike home which happened to be about another 8 miles away. Do I pass the yuppy test yet? True I probably should have wraped the idiot in the mouth when he said those most infamos words " I didn't see you" funny thing he saw the dump truck that went thru the intersection just before I did, huh! odd isn't it?
